I am not super happy with this product. First of all, it’s difficult to fill the glass with the wax beads because there are too many to fit in the glass! Once you get past that step and start burning it, it tunnels the whole way down! I was also disappointed with the scent selection, I just need more options. To top off my frustration, today I was burning the candle and it was near the end of the wax and the silicone insert caught fire and set off my smoke alarms! I had to blow it out and when I took it outside to stop the smoke from filling my house the glass broke. There’s no place to add a picture here or I would. Now I have a bag of wax beads that I will be putting in my own container because I am never using one of these candles again. I really wanted this to be a great alternative to help reduce waste!

We are so sorry to hear about the issues with your first experience with Notes! We hear your concerns about the number of beads in the bag. This has been brought to our attention and a change that is being made in production going forward!Our Notes candles are designed to tunnel, unlike a traditional wax candle. Since the wax is in bead form, it creates a waterfall effect allowing the beads to waterfall in as the candle is burned. This is not a quality defect and is exactly how the candle is designed to work!
We do suggest extinguishing your candle when ¼ of wax remains as this prevents any hazards like the one you experienced. The silicone insert allows you to pop out the leftover wax, so you can refill it again. You do not want to burn until there is no wax left. Again, we do apologize this happened! I said what I said and I meant it! Don’t question yourself, treat yourself! I got the starter kit with crisp linen and the vanilla scent! I’m excited to try the other scents as the scents I picked are amazing! The smell actually lasts which is amazing! I know what gift I will be giving from here on out!! Oh and shipping was super fast!

I love the idea and the scents are gorgeous. Unfortunately when I lit the candle it only melted in the center creating crater until the flame went out from being covered in wax. Im so sad because I wanted to love it!

We are happy to clarify a few things regarding our candle refill system.
In a traditional candle, tunneling occurs when only a small portion of the wax around the wick melts while the candle is burning. Instead of having the entire surface of the wax melt evenly, it will appear as though the flame is burrowing into the candle and creating what resembles a small tunnel (hence the name). It has been engrained in most candle burner's heads that tunneling = bad.
The good news: NOTES®️ candles are not your traditional candle. They are unique in almost every way, including the way they burn. NOTES®️ candles are designed to tunnel the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the candle. This is largely due to the airflow created between the beads. This is normal and doesn’t affect the quality of fragrance or the longevity of the candle like it might in a traditional container candle. The beads will slowly waterfall into the center as the candle continues to burn, leveling the wax without you having to do a thing. This process is not only interesting to watch, but creates a beautiful silhouette and soft glow when observed from the outside of the vessel. By the time your silicone insert is ready to be removed, you should have an even disk of wax with minimal bead residue on the walls of the candle. In the meantime, avoid touching or adding any wax beads, as coating the wick in wax will cause it to snuff out.

I recently received my starter kit. My items were well-packed, yet easy to unpack and get going. Immediately I noticed how heavy the glass vessel is. It isn't dinky or thin. It is larger than other candles in its class. This baby has some heft. Secondly, there is a lot of product. Really. I heaped mine on pretty good and even packed it in a little and still, I had wax beads remaining. (I'm even considering getting a wax warmer now, lol) Thirdly, these candles last a really, really long time. I lit my candle after dinner and kept it lit until nearly bedtime and it looks still pretty full. Finally, these candles do provide a good, strong scent throw. I appreciate this, living with 3 old dogs and a meat-cooking husband in a rather small space. :)

I got my starter kit this week and it’s amazing! Vanilla and pepper wood is what I’m burning now and I love it. This will be my candle of choice from now on! Just wondering. Can you just buy the glass part or do you have to get another kit to get it?
